Combat Basics

Fights on Shinobi Realm play like shinobi duels, not vanilla Minecraft PvP.

Substitution (Kawarimi), X

Tap X to open a short parry window, shown as a chakra shield in front of you. If any damage hits you during the window:

the damage is fully cancelled
you body-flicker away in a puff of smoke

Time it right and you take nothing. Mistime it and it goes on cooldown (20s).

Block, hold F

Hold F to guard. While you guard, melee hits (punches, kicks, weapon swings) do no damage. Jutsu still go through.

Each blocked hit chips your guard gauge. Strikers with high Taijutsu chip it faster, and defenders with high Taijutsu hold longer.
When the gauge breaks you're stunned for a moment and can't block again right away.
The gauge refills by itself shortly after the last blocked hit.

Dashes

Quick dash: double-tap a movement key to dash forward, back, left or right. It costs no chakra, has a short cooldown and goes further the more Speed you have.
Chakra dash: with Chakra Control on, press Shift + Space to launch a chakra-powered dash. It costs a bit of chakra and has a 1.5s cooldown. It works from the ground or while standing on water.

Chakra Control, B

Turn it on to send chakra to your feet:

climb walls
walk on water
use the chakra dash

Chakra charging

Charge your chakra to refill it. You can't move while charging, and it fills your bar in about 15 seconds.

Tenketsu (Gentle Fist)

Byakugan users seal tenketsu (chakra points) with Gentle Fist hits. Each sealed point:

drains 10% of your max chakra
slows your chakra regen (down to 20% when fully sealed)

At 50% sealed you can't charge chakra or use Chakra Control.

Status effects

Jutsu can burn, freeze, slow, root, stun, poison or knock back. Genjutsu can trap your mind. Some genjutsu can be broken with Demonic Illusion: Shatter (Sharingan).

Friendly fire

Party members and members of the same Organization can't hurt each other.
