Tailed Beasts & Jinchuriki
The nine beasts
When a beast appears, it's picked at random. The more tails, the rarer it is and the harder it is to seal.
| Tails | Beast | Chance it's this beast | Sealing difficulty |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Shukaku | 25% | Easiest |
| 2 | Matatabi | 20% | |
| 3 | Isobu | 17% | |
| 4 | Son Goku | 13% | |
| 5 | Kokuo | 9% | |
| 6 | Saiken | 7% | |
| 7 | Chomei | 5% | |
| 8 | Gyuki | 3% | |
| 9 | Kurama | 1.7% | Hardest |
Finding a beast
- In the wild: beasts can appear in the Survival world. It's extremely rare, rarer than a pink sheep, and only one wild beast can be alive at a time. They're tough, with a lot of health and heavy hits, so bring friends.
- Tailed Beast Scrolls: about 1 in 15 structure chests (temples, pyramids...) hold one. Use it to summon a beast.
- Events: staff run tailed beast events.
A wild beast with nobody near it despawns after a while.
Sealing a beast
- Beat it down. A beast can't be killed: at 10% HP it stops taking damage and becomes capturable.
- Right-click it to start the sealing clash, a clicking minigame.
- Left-click to fill your bar. Your bar doesn't drain until your first click (you get up to 5 seconds), so the screen has time to open.
- Hold the line. Fill your bar and keep it above the line for 5 seconds. It drains on its own, so keep clicking through the hold.
- Race the others. Several players can race for the same beast at once, and the first to finish seals it.
If you fail
- If your bar empties or time runs out, you can't try that beast again. It doesn't flee because of you: anyone else who fought it can still try.
- Dying while you fight it (or while you're sealing it) also takes you out of that fight.
- The beast only flees once nobody who fought it can still seal it: everyone has failed, died, logged off or left the area.
After sealing
Sealing a beast wrecks your chakra network: you can't use jutsu for 2 hours per tail (2h for Shukaku, up to 18h for Kurama), and you can't seal another beast until that's over.
Becoming a jinchuriki
A newly sealed beast fights you: nothing is unlocked yet. You win its power stage by stage:
- a beast with N tails gives one chakra cloak per tail (up to 8)
- then the full tailed beast form
Shukaku has cloak 1, then Shukaku. Kurama has cloaks 1-8, then Kurama.
What each stage takes
Counted from the last unlock. Stage 1 counts from the sealing.
| Requirement | Stage n |
|---|---|
| Real time passed | 12h + 6h × (n−1) |
| Deaths | 2 + 2n |
| Kills while transformed | 10 × (n−1) |
| Time spent transformed | 15 min × (n−1) |
Kurama's full form, for example, takes 60h, 20 deaths, 80 kills and 2 hours transformed after the 8th tail.
/tailsshows what your next stage still needs.- Stages unlock automatically once everything is met, and the server announces it when someone fully tames their beast.
- Kills count on players and on enemy shinobi NPCs, including kills your jutsu land indirectly.
Using your beast
Press R (Mode key) to transform into your highest unlocked stage. The form's moves go on your mode jutsu keys.
| Form | Moves |
|---|---|
| Chakra cloak (any tail stage) | Claw swings, and a small Tailed Beast Bomb: about a quarter of the full beast's size, with a bit over half its damage |
| Full tailed beast | The full Tailed Beast Bomb, and Chakra Mode |
| Tailed Beast Chakra Mode | Tailed Beast Form (back to the full beast) |
Size and impact
- Each cloak stage makes you bigger, and your claws reach further the bigger you are. The full beasts are huge.
- Taking a form slams the ground around you.
- Every claw and tail blow cracks the ground where it lands and shakes the screen of everyone nearby. A full beast's footsteps throw up dust, and from five tails up they crack the ground.
- It all grows with the number of tails, and the full beast hits far harder than its cloaks. It's only visual: no blocks are broken.
The beast fights back
In a chakra cloak, the beast doesn't always obey. Every few minutes it takes over for 15 seconds:
- It turns your head towards the closest target, dashes at it and claws anything in reach. With nobody around, it charges off in random directions.
- It still follows the usual rules: it never hurts your party or Organization, and with PvP off it only goes after mobs and enemy NPCs.
- It doesn't happen in the full beast form or in Tailed Beast Chakra Mode.
Tailed Beast Chakra Mode
Only for a fully tamed beast. From the full beast form, use Chakra Mode to condense the beast's power into your own body:
- You fight at human size, with the beast's chakra around you.
- Your claw swings hit harder than the full beast's.
- Your jutsu get a big damage bonus.
- It has no Tailed Beast Bomb. Switch back to the full beast with Tailed Beast Form when you need it.
Releasing your beast
In the menu (C) → Tailed Beast, the Release Tailed Beast button lets your beast go. It asks you twice, and the final button counts down before you can press it.
Releasing is permanent: you lose the beast, every tail you've tamed and all its forms.
